LATEST...03/04/10...A QUICK UPDATE AS I MOVE TO A DIFFERENT WEB HOST...

The Capper Family

This site is for the Capper family, all around the world, but mainly Paul, Amanda, Thomas and Holly Capper. It is written and designed by Paul Capper, an IT consultant, originally from Wrexham and now living in Solihull in the West Midlands.

Tom's Rainforest Project

March 2010. Tom has been busy researching the rainforests and has produced a great project with loads of facts and colourful pictures from the rainforests.

Holly's Dancing

March 2010. Holly has been busy practising her dance moves and recently put on  big show at a local school. She'll soon be starting Stagecoach where she'll be acting, singing and dancing.

1st Solihull Scouts

Thomas and Holly are regulars at 1st Solihull Cubs and Beavers. I'm also a parent representative. I'm hoping to get more involved although it's always about trying to find enough hours in the week.

Work

April 2010. I'm still doing SAP contracting. Over the years I've been at the University of Warwick, Roche Vitamins, Newcastle University, Northumbria University, ITNET, Caterpillar Logistics, RS Components, Cadbury Schweppes, Scottish and Newcastle, British Gas Business, Herefordshire Council, RuleBurst, Birmingham City Council, Trafford Council, SAP UK, Inchcape and Sony.

At Sony I'm doing SAP CRM ABAP consultancy, working on the MCR project, developing interfaces, user exits and web services. We've got our next big release coming up in the middle of April.

House

Autumn 2006. We bought a house round the corner, still in Solihull, and moved out of our rented house. Mark, or George as we know him, and Carl, did a fantastic job getting the house ready to move in to. We're still unpacking years later but it's great to be living in our own home at last.

Ancient History

After appearing on the planet on Rose Hill, I grew up near Wrexham, North Wales and went to Pentre Broughton Junior School. Then on to King's School, Chester and The University of Warwick. At Warwick I was "in charge" of the Newwords+ computer society and president of the Film Society. I squeezed a little Physics with Computing in there too.

After university, I followed a career in cinema management for a number of years. Working up from the bottom of the ladder at the Canon Cinema Chester which became an MGM Cinema. Then onto assistant manager and manager at Showcase Cinemas. This took me around the country including Leeds, Stockton-on-Tees, Bristol and Nottingham. I helped open two 14 screen multiplexes and helped stop the first Showcase from burning down one night.

Cinema was fun but I'd seen the start of those Nescafé adverts far too many times and counted far too many popcorn bags at 2am in the morning. I needed a change so I went back to the bottom of the ladder in the IT industry in the NHS and worked my way up again. This is when I met Amanda in Scruffy Murphy's in Wrexham and started the MSc course in NEWI. Then we got engaged, then we got married, then we moved to Switzerland, then Thomas, then Holly, then Solihull, then, well, see above. :-)

Best regards,
